Jackey Alvarez, Veterinary Assistant
Jackey joined our team in 2008 while she was completing the Veterinary Technician program at San Joaquin Valley College. Jackey says she enjoys coming to work everyday because she gets to be around animals. Her interests include fostering animals, being outdoors, dancing, taking trips and being with her family and friends, especially her boyfriend of five years, Abe. Her newest hobby is planning parties for her friends and family. Jackey has seven dogs: Teddy (her #1 baby), Uggs, Ash, Ren and Stimpy, Maddie and Ollie.
Johanna Andrist, Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant
Johanna joined our team in March 2011. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two-year old-daughter. Horses are one of Johanna’s interests. She has a thoroughbred named Heaven that she rides in the foothills. She used to be on the Fresno State Equestrian team. Johanna is currently going to school to become a registered veterinary technician. She also enjoys photography and gardening. The Andrist family has one dog (Patch), two cats (Chat and Boo), two rabbits (BunBun and Chubby), and two cockatiels (Little Fellow and Little Nouveau).
Kayla Angeles, Receptionist
Kayla joined the PMC team in November of 2015. Kayla and her husband have two pit bulls, a bunny and one cat. They enjoy taking their fur babies out to the park! She enjoys the beach and pretty much doing anything outdoors. As much as she likes being active and busy, she also enjoys a good day at home spending time with family.
Michele Basso, Bookkeeper
Michele has a B.S. in Ag Business from Fresno State University. She has been working as our Bookkeeper since April 1997. Michele and her husband of thirty plus years, Ken, have two daughters: Nicole who graduated from St. Mary’s college and Ashley, who is attending Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio. Ashley is graduating in nursing in May 2011. Michele enjoys wine tasting, camping, gardening, and going to concerts. The Basso family has two dogs, Bella (Golden Retriever) and Cali (Chihuahua), a cat Champ (orange Tabby), and one rabbit.
Katherine Burt-Jones, DVM, Veterinarian
Fresno native and former Fresno Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center Veterinary Assistant, Dr. Katherine Burt is a UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine alumni, graduating in 2013. Dr. Burt recently completed a year long internship at a 24-Hour Emergency and Specialty Center in San Diego, California. Veterinary medicine has taken her from her home town of Fresno to distant continents, including Africa. She is pleased to be returning home to Fresno to work at FVSEC and Pet Medical Center. She has two cats and a Chihuahua, and can’t imagine a better profession to be a part of. Dr. Burt is an avid reader and enjoys spending time with friends and family.
Jamie Bushéy, Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
When given the chance, Jamie enjoys snowboarding with friends, going to football games and San Jose Sharks hockey games. While growing up, Jamie loved watching David Copperfield on TV, and now she goes to his shows when he’s in town. She adds, “Anytime there is a car show or good concert, I am there!” Jamie’s “kids” include: Tobin, a kitten she tube and bottle fed after her step-dad found him, and another kitten. His sibling didn’t make it, but Tobin is doing great! Raider and Bubba (cats) are brothers and best friends – Jamie says they are both lovebugs and are fun to watch. Jamie’s beloved pets that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge will forever live in her heart and she cherishes every moment she had with them.
Seth Cantrell, Veterinary Assistant
I love the outdoors! I love to to surf, go backpacking, freediving/diving and spearfishing. If I am in nature I am happy. I am an adrenaline junkie so anything that is intense or exciting, I will usually enjoy. I also love snow skiing, wake boarding and wake surfing. Also an avid reader. I enjoy working with exotic feline conservation efforts. I live with my girlfriend Jennifer, my dogs, Daisy & Roscoe and a new kitty, Ali.
Emily Cloyes, Pet Spa Coordinator
Emily joined the PMC boarding team in June of 2012. Emily enjoys reading, camping, movies and going to the lake with her dogs. Emily has three dogs, Schroeder, Shep & Tori and a cat named Knute. When not taking care of the PMC pups, Emily raises guide dog puppies for the blind.
Jennifer Coleman, Veterinary Assistant
Jennifer joined the PMC technical team in January of 2015. Jennifer graduated from San Joaquin Valley Colllege with an Associate of Science Degree in the Veterinary Technology program. She loves sports (Go Niners!), outdoors activities, spending time with family & fur babies. She shares her home with her 10 year old daughter, 1 dog named Scooby, 2 cats – Jo & Bella and a rabbit named Peter Piper. Working in Veterinary Medicine has been a life long dream come true.
Grace Davis, DVM, Veterinarian
Dr. Davis was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Biochemistry prior to attending LSU for Veterinary school. After graduation, Dr. Davis worked in Las Vegas, NV as a general practitioner for two years before joining the Pet Medical Center team. When not practicing veterinary medicine, she enjoys hiking, cooking spicy food and reading a good book. Dr. Davis has one spoiled rotten hound dog mix, named Remothy Tarquin
LeeAnn Dumars, DVM, ABVP (Canine and Feline Practice), Veterinarian and Owner
Dr. DuMars was raised in Pennsylvania on a farm. She moved to Idaho after high school where her father retired. LeeAnn graduated from the University of Idaho with a B.S. She studied Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University. After graduating, she decided she was tired of rain and cold weather and came to practice in California. Starting off as an equine practitioner, LeeAnn switched to small animal medicine. For three years she worked at a veterinarian practice before opening her own practice in 1992. When not working, she enjoys horseback riding, family activities such as baseball and soccer games. LeeAnn and Bob live in Clovis on property they share with a conglomeration of pets, including horses, pot belly pigs, dogs, fish, rats, cats, and a lamb and goat. She has a son named Tyler and a daughter Rianna.
Lacey Ellison, Receptionist\Reception Team Trainer
I spend most of my free time with Addie, my (almost) 3 year old daughter. We love going to the park, going for walks, and playing with bubbles. I have one cat, Lexi, who is a super sweet and chubby girl. I have worked in the veterinary field on and off since 2006. Most of my immediate family lives in Texas, north of Dallas, and we love to go and visit them when we can. I am the oldest of a family of 5 kids and am super close with my siblings. I love to bake whenever I can, especially when the weather is cold. I have recently starting sewing as a hobby and have made a nice little collection of dresses and accessories for my daughter.
Bethany Emerian, Veterinary Assistant
Bethany joined our team in March of 2014. She has always been interested in helping animals since before she can remember. When she’s not trying to save an animal, you will find her outdoors. Bethany enjoys camping and hiking with friends. Bethany lives with her family, five dogs (Pudge, Teddy, Chandler, Scrappy and Asia) and a guinea pig, Abby.
Jesse Funaoka, Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
Jesse joined our team in December of 2005, shortly before graduating from San Joaquin valley College. When away from work, she enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with her friends and family. Jesse has two catsnamed Doug Funny & Leo that she affectionately calls her “Little Weeds” (because they grew so fast!) and who she spoils rotten. She one day hopes to add a canine fur baby to her family.
Lacey Gamez, Kennel Assistant
Lacey started with Pet Medical Center and Spa as a receptionist and quickly expanded her duties to help in with our kennel with boarding and doggie day care pets. Lacey likes to spend time with her two dogs, Neptune & Trixie. She also enjoys hiking in the desert and mountains and her favorite place is Disneyland.
Morgan Groves, Kennel Helper
Morgan started with Pet Medical Center and Spa as a helper in June of 2015. She loves to read books and playing with her dog Tezla. Morgan enjoys playing board games, watching TV, shopping, baking and running. Little known facts about Morgan is that she is a competitive soccer player and she has a twin brother. She would like to pursue a career in computer animation.
Kiana Harris, Kennel Assistant
Kiana joined our boarding team in May of 2016. Animals are her passion. Along with dogs and cats, she loves working with livestock such as goats and horses. Horse riding is a hobby that requires great patience and skill. In her free time, Kiana volunteers at animal shelters and works with horse rescues. Kiana has two goats that are like her own kids. In the future, she hopes to adopt two new family members.
Caitlen Jensen, Reception
Caitlen comes to PMC with a unique knowledge of exotic and pocket pet animal care. She joined our team in May of 2016. She loves to travel when possible, with the beach being her favorite! She enjoys spending time with family, doing yoga and playing board games. Comedy shows are her favorite and she thoroughly enjoys kayaking. Caitlen shares her home with Sparky, a 14 year old rescue, a one year old cat named Ren and a sweet little Columbian Red Tailed Boa Constrictor, Gaia, who loves giving tight hugs!
Sharon Johnston, DVM, Veterinarian
Dr. Johnston graduated from Clovis High in 1985. Four years later she received a BS in Zoology from UC Davis. She attended vet school at UC Davis and graduated in 1994. Before coming to Pet Medical Center in 2002, Dr. Johnston worked in Spring Valley, and at Clovis Banfield for five years. She enjoys beading and gardening. Dr. Johnston’s household consists of four cats and two Chihuahuas (Lilah and Minnie) who she says run the house. Her favorite color is purple. She is a rabid recycler.
Ingrid Judge, DVM, Veterinarian
Dr. Judge graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. Dr. Judge remained at UC Davis until 2000, completing research towards a PhD Degree in Comparative Pathology with an emphasis on mucosal immunology and bacterial translocation. Remaining clinically oriented, Dr. Judge practiced emergency medicine in San Francisco while completing her research at UC Davis. Following this time in academia, Dr. Judge continued to practice emergency medicine in West Los Angeles. Dr. Judge began working in general practice in 2003 as she moved with her husband to the central valley to start a family. Dr. Judge returned to emergency medicine in 2010 as a doctor at FVSEC. Dr. Judge lives on a working cattle ranch with her husband and two daughters.
Beth Kroeker, Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)/Tech Team Lead
Beth has been a Registered Veterinary Technician since 1987 and started working for Pet Medical Center in January 1996. She has been married to Todd since December 1989. Together they have two beautiful daughters, Emily, due to graduate with a recreational Therapy Degree from Fresno State spring 2014 and Sarah, who will be starting Fresno State in fall of 2013, double majoring in Physics and Music. The Kroeker family also includes their two dogs, Tucker (lab mix), Ellie (beagle/lab mix) and a feline named Giblet. Their beloved HiTop kitty passed over the Rainbow Bridge at 19.5 yrs old in 2009. Beth enjoys vacationing with her family in Lake Tahoe, and wine tasting with her husband along the Central Coast and when able, seeing the San Francisco Giants beat the LA Dodgers… GO GIANTS!
Kevin Lazarcheff, DVM, Veterinarian
You can call him Dr. L, we do! He is a native of Reno, attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where he received a Bachelor’s of Science in Veterinary Science. Following his graduation from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993, Dr. Lazarcheff opened a small animal practice in Reno, NV. Dr. Lazarcheff has practiced both small and large animal medicine over the years, practicing in Nevada, California, and Washington. Dr. Lazarcheff has worked at numerous local emergency veterinary clinics in the area over the past 10 years. While at home, Dr. Lazarcheff maintains a small mobile practice, serving the Oakhurst and other local mountain communities. Currently, Dr. Lazarcheff is the District V Governor of the California Veterinary Medical Association and is the chair of the Political Action Committee. Dr. Lazarcheff enjoys spending time with his wife and children, and his fur family of one dog and two cats.
Shawnna Lenard, Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
Shawnna graduated from San Joaquin Valley College in 2002. She has worked at Pet Medical Center and Spa since February 2005. Shawnna has been with her husband Doyle for over a decade. Doyle and Shawnna have two children, Brendyn and Alyssa. On her time off, Shawnna enjoys riding her quad, camping, puzzles, reading books to her children, and fostering animals while helping them find good homes. She loves the outdoors, and her favorite color is hot pink. The Lenard family also has a conglomeration of animals: Caine (Pit Bull), Yahtzee and Scrabble (Chihuahua mixes), four cats (Cut, Myles, Sinda and Izzy), and numerous fish. Girlfriend, Shawnna’s “first born,” crossed the Rainbow Bridge in December 2008 after almost thirteen years with the Lenard family.
Natalie Longhat, Receptionist
Natalie joined our reception team in April of 2012. Natalie loves being outdoors and you can find her fishing, camping or going to the beach. She enjoys being around family and friends and proclaims herself an ultimate movie fanatic. Natalie has a chihuahua named Bambi and a new puppy named Stark.
Ashley Marzocca, Veterinary Assistant
Ashley is a graduate of San Joaquin Valley College. She was hired in October 2008. Ashley enjoys traveling, reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family and friends. Ashley and her husband have two children, Giovanni and Isabella. The Marzocca family has four dogs: Faith, Lola, Chewy and Princess Leia.
Bob Mayorga, MBA, Hospital Administrator and Owner
Bob is married to LeeAnn. Bob has a Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety & Health as well as an MBA. For twenty years, Bob ran 911 paramedic systems in Fresno, the City of San Diego and Alameda County. When not at work, which is very rare, he enjoys golf and gardening. At home he has numerous animals to tend to. Wilbur, an American Bulldog puppy who was fostered by Bob and his family since he was ten days old, recently became a permanent member of the household.
Nicole McBrearty, Veterinary Assistant
Nicole came on board with Pet Medical Center in February of 2013 and is a recent graduate of the San Joaquin Valley College Veterinary Technician Program. Nicole enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, camping and deep sea fishing. When not outdoors, she enjoys reading great books (mysteries and drama) and watching baseball and football. Nicole and her fiance, Dan, love to travel and take their only child, Lucy, with them. Lucy is a mutt and was adopted from the SPCA and she is spoiled rotten!
Nancy McCully, Groomer
Before starting to groom dogs twenty-four years ago, Nancy was a hairdresser. Nancy has two animals: Elway (Pug mix) and Honey (Siamese). She has three children. Nancy enjoys attending dog shows (Max, Nancy’s lab who has crossed the Rainbow Bridge, was a retired show dog), traveling, having a good glass of wine, and listening to classical music.
Kelly McElhinney, MBA, CVPM, Practice Manager
Kelly was raised in Massachusetts. She earned a B.S. from UMASS-Amherst, where she majored in Biology and minored in Wildlife and Fisheries. In May 2008, she came on board as our Practice Manager. Kelly is an avid scuba diver and holds a NAUI Divemaster Certification. Kelly and her husband, Sean, are very active in the local dive community and are founding members of the Fresno Scuba Club. Kelly completed her MBA degree, with a focus in Human Resources, in November 2008. Kelly and Sean have a family of mixed breed dogs and one rabbit. She also enjoys underwater and live concert photography, travel, hiking with their pets, gardening, visiting the dog park, live concerts, and ice hockey. The McElhinney’s welcomed their first 2 legged child in January of 2015.
Mira Minton, Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)/Tech Team Trainer
Mira started working at Pet Medical Center and Spa in May 2011. She enjoys backpacking, running marathons, painting, camping, cooking, dancing, being with her nieces and nephew, and hanging out with her friends and family. Mira has four pets: Eragon (Beagle), Neo (Poodle/Terrier X), Winky Wonda (Dachsund X) and Nagera (cat). Maryweather crossed the Rainbow Bridge in November of 2012 and is remembered with love.
Antoinette Osuna, Kennel Assistant
Antoinette joined our boarding team in November of 2015. Antoinette loves to read, run, hike, swim and play sports with her family. She loves to be outdoors and to stay active, which is easy to do working in boarding here at PMC. Antoinette loves trying new foods and out of the ordinary things. Her interests vary from historical artifacts and places to movie sand comedy shows. She also loves comic books, superhero shows, a variety of music and can enjoy quiet teat time. She and her husband have two children, Nathaniel and Ava, and a pet dog-human, Bowser.
Breanna Schoonard, Groomer
Bre joined our Grooming Department in August of 2016. I enjoy hiking, running and reading a good book. In my free time I like to find a trail and go hiking with my dogs! I love working with animals and everyday I come to work with a smile on my face because I love what I do :o)
Bentley and Lylia are my fur babies and I love them to death. My mom and my brother are my rocks to depend on and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
Ayanna Shaw, Receptionist/Kennel Assistant
Ayanna joined the PMC team in May of 2016. Ayanna’s interests include modeling, hiking, traveling, dancing and watching basketball, football and soccer. Ayanna attends Fresno State and is majoring in Biology and minoring in Spanish. She lives with her parents, two older brothers, two cockatiels and one chihuahua named Giuseppe.
Ayanna would like to attend veterinary school at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and eventually own her own mixed animal practice so she can care for her favorite animal…goats!
Nikki Sylvester, Kennel Assistant
Nikki joined our team in August of 2016. She enjoys the company of all animals. She is a vegetarian and devotes her life to caring for animals. She enjoys scrapbooking, sewing and needs her share of coffee everyday! She has two fur children, Marley a shepherd/husky mix & a cat, Tucker, a main coon mix. Marley likes to snuggle and learn new tricks. Tucker runs the house as he likes to believe. Nikki also shares her home with her fiance and hopes to have a wedding soon!
She loves spending time with Marley taking walks, cuddling him is one of her favorite things!
Stephanie Torres, Kennel Assistant
I love dogs, music, makeup, clothing and spending time with my family. I enjoy discovering new foods and playing video games with my brothers and sisters! Stephanie shares her home with her husband Jorge, a German Shepherd/Husky mix names Sapphire, Jack Russell mix named Armani, a huge German Shepherd Romeo and her newly adopted baby, a Frenchie named Biscuit.
Hannah Vehrs, Veterinary Assistant/Kennel Assistant
Hannah became part of our boarding staff in March of 2015. When not at PMC, Hannah likes to crochet, paint, read, camp and go for walks with her dogs. She has a beautiful 4 year old daughter, a cat named Mermaid, a Jack Russel/Chihuahua named Lulu Bug who is almost 2 years old and a rescue that she fell in love with named Sadie.
Ashley Warner, Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
Ashley joined the PMC team in January of 2015. She was born and raised in Orange County and grew up loving the beach and going camping with her family. Ashley moved to the San Joaquin Valley to be with her amazing fiance in 2012 and enrolled in San Joaquin Valley College’s Veterinary Technology program to become an RVT. Some of her many interests include small and exotic animals, going on weekend adventures camping and hiking, taking her dogs to the beach and spending relaxing time doing gardening and arts & crafts. Ashley would like to broaden her education in veterinary medicine to include marine and exotic wildlife.
Ashley grew up up in an animal loving family that has been very supportive and have always wanted her to pursue her dream of working with animals. She enjoys lifes adventures with her best friend Max, a 2 yr. old pit bull, a 1 yr. old queensland heeler mix named Pebbles and a 5 yr. old terrier mix named Sweetie.
Christa Webster, Kennel Assistant/Receptionist/Bather
Christa joined PMC in January of 2014. Christa enjoys reading and learning new things. In her spare time, she enjoys dog training and teaching her dog, Gracie, fun new things! She’s had animals of all sorts throughout her life and she enjoys caring for them the nest she can.
Jessica Wicks, Receptionist
Jessica joined our team of receptionists in October of 2012. In her free time, Jessica enjoys catching up on sleep, watching scary movies, animals & zoos, shopping, and running. When she has time, Jessica enjoys traveling. Jessica has two brothers and is a triplet!
Jessica Wilson, Veterinary Assistant
Jessica joined the PMC technical team in May of 2015. Jessica is a graduate of Fresno State with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She is currently working on a thesis on the parasitic load of the endangered San Joaquin Valley kit fox. She enjoys horseback riding, hiking around Shaver Lake, rodeo, PBR, dinners with friends ad hanging out with her dog Jackson. Jessica has family in SoCal ad Arizona.
Cristina Zamora, Receptionist/Reception Team Trainer
Cristina joined Pet Medical Center after graduating from UC Davis with her Bachelors Degree in Animal Science (Specializing in Companion and Captive Animals). Cristina enjoys playing with and spoiling her guinea pig Nala and her dogs, Mia and Valentino. In her free time, Cristina enjoys shopping, snowboarding, playing badminton and spending time with her family.
Cristina’s future plans include pursuing a Masters Degree and either continuing on to Veterinary School or to obtain a PhD.
